Raindrops In The Bedroom

2.8.13  POST CATEGORY  :  Personal | Children | Family
It was all secret squirrel, the night before my sister left and went back to work in Dunedin - Genevieve had a surprise up her sleeve, although she was struggling to contain herself and not spill the beans...

On Friday morning Marc had the day off and we thought yeah, a sleep in, but no, it wasn't to be. Genevieve came bounding into the bedroom... "Dad, can you please light the fire, I've got so much work to do". "It's probably not that cold downstairs, why don't you pop down and see?" This was quickly replied with "I'll freeze to death" but she marched off downstairs 'to check'. Moments later she was back... "It's only 16 degrees! I can't work in that!" - guess who had to get up and light the fire?

She worked away on 'her surprise' for hours and then once it got dark Nicci, Graham (another friend who had come for tea) and I got invited upstairs to the spare bedroom. It was totally dark, then the sound of heavy rain and thunder started. Marc duly stood beside the light switch to control the 'lightning' which exposed an entire wall covered in hand coloured raindrops that Genevieve had made + a tree, a flower and a bush with a weed beside it. Apparently there had to be a weed because "Mum's garden has weeds" - great!

I took these photos the morning after the storm had passed and the sun had come out... (and yes I know the walls are yellow and purple, we'll get to them one day! lol!)
Don't worry, we wont make this public

Wow so creative, and how neat to capture it with your camera ~ she is a chip off the old block for sure (not that you are that old Viv!!) I love all that has gone into this, and it does not bear thinking about what may not have come about had Marc refused to light the fire that morning!! No one can get their creative juices flowing at a mere 16dg!! :)
