Hanoi Explorations

14.5.19  POST CATEGORY  :  Personal | Lifestyle

If you like cats, small dogs and random detail shots, then this post is for you. We arrived in Hanoi after traveling from a wedding in Perth, thinking it would be good opportunity to show Genevieve how other cultures flourish in this world of ours. Just driving from the airport to our accomodation I think her eyes were as big as saucers and I could see her gripping the edge of her seat. Clearly we were about to die in the insane, 'no rules' traffic! I on the other hand was so excited about all the photographic opportunities that lay ahead that I was like a kid in a candy store. Marc had been to Vietnam before... quite a while ago... like maybe over twenty years, but he was keen to show us around.

The adventure began...

Well as it turned out, we just happened to be in Hanoi at the exact same time as the Peace Summit was occuring between President Trump, and Korean leader Kim Jong Un. There were combos of flags everywhere, Vietmanese, Korean and American in little bundles tucked in all the telephone poles; multitudes of police; Amercian tv cameras crews with huge lenses; and people!!

Vincent Turns One

24.10.18  POST CATEGORY  :  Together | Lifestyle | Children | Family | Celebration
Its not every day you get invited to go to an Alice in Wonderland teaparty, of course they really should be everyday events because they are soooo much fun to attend. Vincent got to celebrate his very first birthday with his family and cousins in his Grandparents beautiful garden and although I'm not sure he really new what all the fuss was about, one thing I am sure of, is that he thought the bright blue cupcakes were pretty delicious, along with the little blue candles too! Bonfires and Chinese Lanterns

2.8.18  POST CATEGORY  :  Lifestyle | Children | Family | Celebration
Genevieve celebrated turning twelve this year with some geocaching around a wetland with her friends, followed by lots of open fire cooking at the beach. Dampa bread, sausages, marshmallows and tinfoil wrapped bananas! Yum!! The girls all lit there own fires using a flint which was pretty impressive. The cake was a bonfire of course, and naturally it had to be on fire, a left over box of sparklers provided this element. The evening was finished off with eating cake and lighting Chinese lanterns, watching them float out to sea. A lovely way to finish a perfect evening. Click to view full blog post

TranzAlpine

2.8.18  POST CATEGORY  :  Together | Personal | Lifestyle | Family

The end of the school holidays saw us take a train trip across the Canterbury planes to the West Coast on the Tranz Alpine. It was lovely to have extended family with us, let's just say the tubing that took nearly a whole hour just to get into ones wetsuits, wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without everyone there! No one would know who we were talking about when we drop 'Mr Green' a newly invented term, into converstations from now on either unless you were actually there ;-) The Tranz Alpine is one of the top ten train journeys in the world and I can understand why, although being a fellow kiwi, it just seems 'normal'.

The cloud formations as we left Christchurch were pretty impressive...

Balloons at Elephant Rocks

21.6.18  POST CATEGORY  :  Lifestyle | Children | Family | Celebration | Landscape

Sophia has just turned four, and what better way to celebrate than with some ginormous pink and white balloons!! There was going to be four balloons of course... but maybe one balloon had other ideas. Of course the gas canisters said they'd fill 30 balloons, but managed a sum total of four. It didn't matter... you know it's going to be a good day when the lighting's stunning, the sky is thunderous and someone declare, "Can we do a funny face" a great family day out with a story to tell for years to come :-)

Happy Birthday Miss Sophia!!
