Awards and Achievements Frequently Asked Questions
  • When is the best time of day to have my photos taken?
When the light is beautiful! Early morning or late afternoon is usually best, but whatever the situation I will work hard to create great photos regardless. If you're going to be photographed in my studio then late morning is best.
  • How long have you been a professional photographer for?
For over 20 years I have worked as a Professional Photographer, half of that time as a Graphic Designer as well - it is a great combination and they each add to the strength of the other. I have had my own business since 2002, relocating to Timaru in 2008. I am also a qualified accredited member of the NZIPP (New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography) and a Master Photographer too.
  • How far will you travel to take my photographs and what's the cost?
As far as you want me to! There are no travel charges for portrait, wedding and lifestyle sessions photographed within the Timaru district. Anything beyond that will incur a travel fee and potentially accommodation and flights. Just give me a call to discuss your options and to organise a session further afield.
  • Can you remove acne, cuts and scrapes etc?
Of course, and this is routinely done. Anything super large may be a bit more difficult (like an arm in plaster!) so rescheduling your session may be in order.
  • When will my photos be ready?
It depends on what you order, with the likes of albums taking longer but initial viewing with an online gallery should be within 1-2 weeks of your session.
  • What about locations for our photographs?
Location depends a lot on the type of shoot you are booking in for. If it's a family, girls day out, or lifestyle shoot my style of photography is about telling your story, documenting you, so it's nice to use locations that are special and unique to you. It could be cooking in your kitchen at home, taking a stroll on the farm, a rugged paddock, industrial buildings, a café, a antique shop, the beach.. whatever you love and inspires you - and it doesn't have to look 'picture perfect' either! If on the other hand you're not sure what you want I can give you some suggestions and we can decide on this together.
  • Can I book my wedding date now and decide later on the details?
You sure can! It just requires confirmation that your date is still available and payment of the initial deposit. Your wedding is then a confirmed booking and we can sort everything else out later.
  • What should I wear?
If you're having a beauty shoot this is the perfect opportunity to buy yourself something pretty that fits really well but most of all wear what you look good in! Jeans and t-shirts are just fine - it’s really up to you! Stunning art-photos can be created with out of the ordinary combinations... floaty dresses and killer heels against industrial buildings. Try and keep the colour tones complimentary between you, but not matching, have some fun! If in doubt bring your wardrobe with you and we can pick some combos together.
  • When should we book for a newborn session?
Within the first 2 weeks is ideal as your baby should remain asleep (hopefully). You can give a tentative booking with your due date and then we can confirm a session date once your baby has arrived.
  • What are your prices and packages?
Under the Price section you will find online magazines for all the different types of shoots I offer. The magazines have everything about what's involved in each shoot, packages and prices of products. Any other questions that you have just give me a call or email me on the contact form.
  • Can I buy the digital files from my session?
You certainly can! Any printed product you purchase automatically comes with it's accompanying high resolution digital image. You are also welcome to buy a digital package of all, or some of your images so you can print away to your hearts' content.
